Postgraduate teaching and supervision
Gateway Antarctica also offers teaching and supervision for four graduate qualifications. These provide a pathway into exciting areas of Antarctic research or lead to job opportunities primarily with environmental or government agencies.
Post Graduate Certificate in Antarctic Studies (PCAS)
Antarctic Studies is an internationally unique programme of study and inquiry that has been developed by staff at the University of Canterbury in partnership with Antarctica New Zealand, with significant contributions from the other New Zealand universities.
Master of Antarctic Studies (MAntaStud)
The Master of Antarctic Studies degree is a full-time two-year programme. It is designed so that its requirements can be completed by students who are based at other New Zealand universities.
Post Graduate Diploma in Antarctic Studies (PGDipAntaStud)
The Diploma programme consists of one academic year for full time students. It is equivalent to Part 1 of the Masters of Antarctic Studies.
Doctor of Philosophy (PhD)
The main aim of the PhD programme is to provide graduates with the skills to conduct independent research at the highest level.
