Fees - Postgraduate Certificate in Antarctic Studies (PCAS)
The fees for the programme can be found on the University of Canterbury course information website. The programme is made up of four compulsory courses/papers - the fee for each course is shown individually but it is not possible to enrol in individual courses. (Note that fees for the current year are updated on the site partway through the year.)
The full fee is required before the start of the programme.
The programme fee covers:
- all tuition costs
- Antarctic fieldwork expenses, including travel costs between Christchurch and Scott Base (Antarctica).
The fee does not cover:
- NZ$100 acceptance fee
- medical expenses and clothing expenses incurred to meet Antarctica New Zealand's requirements (note: most of the clothing will be provided to you on loan - do not purchase before the course).
The University of Canterbury and Antarctica New Zealand cannot accept responsibility for additional costs incurred by students as a result of any logistical changes associated with the Antarctic field component that are outside the control of the University of Canterbury or Antarctica New Zealand.
The length of the field component varies due to weather and unforseeable circumstances.
